1) Can I mount a DynaLock magnetic lock armature on a frameless glass door with no top rail?
That is exactly what the DynaLock 4850 glass door bracket is for. It gives the armature a mounting surface on a glass door that has no top rail to drill or tap. The bracket clamps the glass and carries the armature, so the mag lock itself mounts to the frame or header as normal.
2) What glass thickness will the DynaLock 4850 bracket clamp?
The 4850 bracket fits 3/8, 1/2 or 3/4 inch thick glass doors. Those three are the full range it accommodates, so measure the glass before ordering: anything outside 3/8 to 3/4 inch is not covered.
3) Does the 4850 glass door bracket come with the magnetic lock, or do I order that separately?
Bracket only. The 4850 is an installation accessory, so you order the magnetic lock (2011, 2022, 3000 or 3002) and its power supply separately. What comes with the bracket is the shim set, rubber and metal, for the glass.
4) Will clamping a bracket onto the glass crack or scratch the door?
The 4850 ships with rubber and metal shims that sit between the bracket and the glass to protect it during installation. The shims also take up the difference between the 3/8, 1/2 and 3/4 inch glass thicknesses, so one bracket covers all three.
5) Do I need a glass door bracket if my storefront door has an aluminum top rail?
No. If the door has a top rail wide enough to drill and through-bolt, the armature mounts directly to that rail and no bracket is needed. The 4850 solves the opposite case, all-glass or frameless doors with no rail to fasten into. Ordering it for a rail door just adds hardware you will not use.
6) Is the DynaLock 4850 bracket rated for commercial use?
Commercial, yes. The 4850 is a commercial door hardware accessory that goes with DynaLock electromagnetic locks in an access control opening, not a residential retrofit part.
7) There is only one 4850 part number, so is there a left hand and right hand version?
One model covers it. The 4850 is sold as a single configuration, with no handed or finish variants to specify, so the only thing you confirm at order time is that your glass falls in the 3/8 to 3/4 inch range and your mag lock is a 2011, 2022, 3000 or 3002.
