The Eaton B-Line 6A-36-LR24 is a left reducer that transitions between 36 inch and 24 inch tray widths. On a left reducer the straight side stays in line on the left as you look in the direction of the reduction, and the taper is taken out of the right rail. If your run needs the straight side on the opposite rail, you need the right-hand version instead, not this one.

A left reducer such as the 6A-36-LR24 keeps one rail in a continuous straight line so cables on that side never change direction, while the width comes off the other rail. Use a straight reducer only when you want the centerline of both widths to stay aligned and the taper split evenly between both rails.

Aluminum. That keeps the fitting light (5.5 lb) and suits the same environments as aluminum tray. Mixing aluminum fittings into a steel tray run is generally avoided, both for splice fit and for dissimilar metal contact, so match the reducer to the material of the tray it is splicing into.
