Horizontal. The 6A-36-45HB24 turns the tray run 45 degrees flat, in the plane of the tray, for routing around a corner or obstruction. If you need to change elevation, that calls for a vertical inside or outside elbow, not this fitting.

This bend is aluminum, which is the usual call where weight and corrosion matter: lighter to hoist and hang, and it holds up in damp or chemically aggressive areas without galvanizing. The whole fitting comes in at 16 lb, so a two-person crew can set it on the supports without rigging. Aluminum tray also needs a bonding jumper approach consistent with your equipment grounding design.

Order it as Eaton B-Line 6A-36-45HB24. Read the number as it's built: 6 inch rail, aluminum, 36 inch width, 45 degree horizontal bend, 24 inch radius. Splice plates and hardware are ordered separately from the fitting.

Fittings are normally supported near each end, and at 36 inches wide with a 24 inch radius this bend spans a fair distance, so most installs hang a support just off each splice rather than letting the bend cantilever. The fitting's own 16 lb is minor next to the cable fill it will carry, so size the hangers off the loaded run, not the tray weight.
