1) Is the Eaton B-Line 12126-12CHSC enclosure rated for washdown or outdoor use?
No. The 12126-12CHSC is a NEMA 12 enclosure, which covers indoor protection against dust, falling dirt and dripping non-corrosive liquids. It is not a washdown or outdoor rating. For hosedown or rain exposure you need a NEMA 4 or 4X box instead. The oil-resistant gasket and continuous piano hinge are what give it the NEMA 12 seal on machine tool and industrial control applications.
2) Can I mount a back panel inside this B-Line JIC enclosure, and does one come with it?
The 12CHSC enclosure includes panel mount provisions, so the welded studs or tapped holes for a subpanel are already in the back of the box. The panel itself is a separate order item, sized to the enclosure. Plated screws are supplied as part of the enclosure hardware.
3) How does the 12126-12CHSC attach to the wall, and does it sit flush against it?
It is a wall mount enclosure with external mounting feet. The feet sit outside the enclosure body, so no mounting holes penetrate the sealed interior and the NEMA 12 integrity stays intact. It stands off the wall slightly rather than sitting dead flush, and you fasten through the feet rather than drilling the back of the box.
4) Is the B-Line 12CHSC enclosure acceptable for a UL 508A industrial control panel build?
Yes. The 12CHSC carries UL 508A, the standard for industrial control panels, so panel builders can use it as the enclosure in a listed control panel assembly. Steel construction is 16 gauge carbon steel.
5) Does this JIC enclosure have a removable cover or a hinged door?
Hinged, on a continuous piano hinge, and it is a small single door style. That matters for service access in tight machine bays: you need swing clearance to the side rather than room to lift a screw cover off and set it down. If you have no side clearance, a screw-cover or lift-off version of the same box is the better pick.
6) Is the door on this B-Line enclosure gasketed, and will the gasket hold up around cutting oil?
The cover carries an oil-resistant gasket, which is why the box holds a NEMA 12 rating in machine tool environments where coolant and cutting oil get thrown around. Standard sponge gaskets break down in that service; this one is specified for it.
7) Will this enclosure match the other grey control boxes in our plant?
