B-LINE AW6030P – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What size enclosure does the B-Line AW6030P back panel fit?
The AW6030P is sized for 60 x 30 inch Eaton B-Line enclosures. The panel itself measures 56.87 inches high by 26.875 inches wide, which is the usual undersize so it clears the enclosure walls and lands on the mounting studs inside. If your box is a different nominal size, this panel won't line up.
2) Is a NEMA 1 back panel OK to use in a washdown or outdoor enclosure?
The AW6030P is rated to the NEMA 1 family, which is indoor, dry, dust-and-contact protection only. The enclosure is what carries the environmental rating, not the panel, but a white powder coated steel panel in a wet, oily or corrosive box will start to rust at the mounting holes. For washdown or outdoor work, spec a panel intended for that duty rather than this one.
3) Is the AW6030P a flat panel or a flanged one?
It's a flanged panel. The formed flange stiffens a panel this large so heavy gear mounted on it doesn't let the sheet oil-can, and it sets the panel off the back wall of the enclosure. The flange depth is reflected in the 26.875 inch length/depth dimension.
4) What gauge and material is this B-Line panel, and will it hold heavy gear?
12 gauge steel, white powder coated. That's a heavy panel by back-panel standards, and it is why this one weighs 45.63 lb by itself. Plan on two people to set it into a 60 x 30 enclosure, and account for that dead weight before you add breakers, contactors or a drive.
5) Why is the panel white instead of bare or gray?
The white powder coat is there to bounce light inside the box. On a 60 x 30 enclosure the back of the cabinet is dark once the door is part-closed, and a white panel makes wire colors and breaker labels readable without a headlamp. It also gives you a surface that takes marker and label tape cleanly.
6) Does the AW6030P come with mounting hardware?
Order the AW6030P as the steel panel itself. Back panels mount to studs or clips that are part of the enclosure, so if you are retrofitting into a cabinet that lost its hardware, source the panel mounting kit for that enclosure separately.
