B-LINE AW88GP – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will the B-Line AW88GP back panel fit an 8 x 8 inch electrical enclosure?
Yes. The AW88GP is sized for 8 inch by 8 inch enclosures, with the panel itself measuring 6.87 x 6.87 inches and 6.875 inches in the length/depth dimension, so it sits inside the box clear of the corners and mounting studs.
2) Is this B-Line panel UL Listed for use in a control enclosure?
The AW88GP carries a UL Listing. That is usually what an inspector or a spec writer is looking for when a back panel goes into a control or JIC enclosure build.
3) I need back panels for 10 x 10 or larger enclosures. Will the AW88GP work?
No. This one is dimensioned specifically for 8 inch by 8 inch enclosures at 6.87 x 6.87 inches, so it will float loose in a larger box and the mounting holes will not line up with the studs. For a bigger enclosure you need the B-Line panel matched to that enclosure's size rather than trimming this one.
4) What material is the AW88GP mounting panel made of, and will it hold up in a damp mechanical room?
Galvanized steel, with a smooth brushed finish. The zinc coating gives it better corrosion resistance than bare cold-rolled steel, which is why it is the common choice for panels going into damp plant rooms and washdown-adjacent areas rather than painted panels.
5) What is an AW88GP actually used for inside a JIC enclosure?
It is the interior mounting panel, the flat plate that components (terminal blocks, relays, small starters, DIN rail) get fastened to so nothing is drilled through the enclosure wall and the box stays sealed. B-Line lists it for installation in all types of JIC enclosures and small panels.
6) How heavy is the AW88GP panel for shipping and handling counts?
Just under a pound, .937 lb per panel, so ordering them in quantity for a multi-enclosure job adds very little weight to the pallet and one person can set the plate in the box by hand.
