B-LINE B281AZN – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Do anchors or bolts come with the B-Line B281AZN post base?
No. The B281AZN ships as the steel post base fitting only. You supply the concrete anchors or through-bolts for the base plate and the channel nuts and bolts (or welded connection, per your detail) to tie the strut post into the fitting.
2) What does centered offset mean on this B-Line square post base?
On the B281AZN, the post socket sits centered over the 6 x 6 inch base plate with an offset in the connection, so the strut post lands in the middle of the footprint rather than flush to one edge. That matters when you are laying out anchor holes on a slab or roof curb and need the post load centered between the fasteners.
3) How much floor space does the B281AZN base plate take up, and how tall does it sit?
The plate is 6 by 6 inches square and the fitting stands 1.62 inches high, so it adds just over an inch and a half to the finished height of your strut post. Handy when you are hitting a fixed overall height on a rooftop equipment support or a floor-mounted rack.
4) Is the electro-plated finish on this B-Line post base OK for outdoor or rooftop use?
The B281AZN is steel with an electro-plated finish, which is a light zinc coating intended for dry indoor and sheltered service. For sustained outdoor exposure, wet process areas or coastal air, step up to a hot-dip galvanized or stainless post base instead; electro-plate will surface rust where water sits on the plate.
5) What part number do I give my distributor for this Eaton B-Line square post base?
Order it as Eaton B-Line B281AZN. That is the manufacturer part number for the centered-offset square post base in electro-plated steel for B22A, B and C channel. There are no size or finish options to specify on it.
