B-LINE B198A-6ZN – Frequently Asked Questions
1) How much load will the B-Line B198A-6ZN clevis bracket carry?
The B198A-6ZN clevis bracket is rated for a uniform load of 1600 lbs. That is the fitting's rating on its own; the strut, the rod, and the anchorage it hangs from all have to be rated for the same load, and the weakest of the four is what you actually get.
2) What does "channel opening downward" mean on the B198A-6ZN, and how does it get installed?
It means the bracket holds a length of strut with the channel slot facing down, so the nuts and the hardware you hang from it load into the strut from underneath. Typical use is a trapeze hanger: two clevis brackets on threaded rod, a piece of strut between them, conduit or pipe clamped up into the downward-facing channel. If you need the slot facing up to sit equipment on top of the strut, this is the wrong orientation of fitting.
3) Is the electro-plated zinc finish on the B198A-6ZN alright for outdoor or wet locations?
No. Electro-plated zinc on steel is an indoor, dry-location finish. For exterior runs, parking structures, wash-down areas, or anywhere subject to condensation, specify a hot-dip galvanized or stainless version of the fitting instead. The ZN suffix on B198A-6ZN is the electro-plated zinc option.
4) What size is the B-Line B198A-6ZN bracket?
The B198A-6ZN measures 6 inches in length/depth, 3.5 inches in height, and 1.62 inches in width, and weighs 1.85 lbs. The 1.62 inch width is the dimension to check first, since it needs to suit standard 1-5/8 inch strut.
5) What is the exact part number to order this Eaton B-Line clevis bracket?
Order it as B198A-6ZN. B198A is the clevis bracket with the channel opening downward, the 6 is the 6 inch length, and ZN is the electro-plated zinc finish. Quote the full suffix when ordering, since the same bracket body is built in other lengths and finishes.
