B-LINE B2008AL – Frequently Asked Questions

1) How much weight can the B-Line B2008AL strut clamp hold?
The B2008AL is rated for a 400 lb load capacity. That figure is the clamp itself; the strut channel, the anchors into the structure, and the spacing of your supports all have to carry the same load, so size the run to whichever of those is the weakest link.
2) Does the B2008AL strut clamp come with the screw, or do I have to order hardware separately?
The fastener is already on it. The B2008AL ships with a pre-assembled combination recess hex head screw, so the installer is not hunting for loose hardware on a lift. The combination head means you can drive it with a hex driver or a screwdriver bit, whichever is already in hand.
3) Is the B-Line B2008AL clamp steel or aluminum, and where does that matter?
Aluminum. It weighs .11 lb per piece, which keeps overhead runs light, and aluminum avoids the rust you get from plain electro-plated steel in damp or washdown areas. Where you are clamping to bare copper or dissimilar metal, plan for isolation the same as you would with any aluminum support component.
4) What size is the B-Line B2008AL clamp?
It measures .063 x 2.396 x 1.25 inches (height, length/depth, width as listed). The 1.25 inch width is the number that matters most when you are stacking clamps along a single length of strut, since it sets how tightly you can space parallel runs of conduit or pipe.
5) Are B-Line strut clamps like the B2008AL used for conduit or for pipe?
Both. It is a strut-mounted clamp from the Eaton B-Line strut pipe clamp and accessory line, so it secures conduit or pipe to a channel support rather than to a bare wall or deck. If you are hanging a line with no strut in place, you need the channel and its anchors first; the clamp only does the final attachment.
6) What is the manufacturer part number for this B-Line aluminum strut clamp?
Order it as Eaton B-Line B2008AL. That is the full catalog designation for the aluminum clamp with the pre-assembled combination recess hex head screw.
