B-LINE 33120 G NK – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Is this wireway rated for outdoor or washdown use?
No. The 33120 G NK is a NEMA 1 enclosure, which is indoor use only, general purpose protection against incidental contact and falling dirt. It is not sealed against water, so keep it out of wet locations, exterior walls, and washdown areas. For those you need a NEMA 3R or 4 raintight/watertight trough instead.
2) Does the 33120 G NK come with knockouts, or do I have to punch my own conduit entries?
NK means no knockouts. The body is blank steel, so every conduit entry gets field punched where you want it. That's the version electricians usually prefer for a clean layout, but plan on a knockout punch set on the truck. If you'd rather have factory openings, you need the knockout version of the trough rather than the NK.
3) How do I mount a 10 foot section of this wireway to a wall or strut?
It's supplied with thru holes in the back of the trough, so you fasten straight through the back into your structure, unistrut, or wall anchors. At 25.61 lb bare, plus conductor weight, set supports along the 120 inch length rather than at the ends only, and hit structure or backing at each support point.
4) How does the cover come off on this B-Line trough, hinged or screws?
Screw cover, secured with plated screws along the length. You back the screws out to open the run, so allow clearance in front of the trough for a driver and somewhere to keep the hardware. If you're pulling and re-pulling frequently for changeover work, a hinged cover trough is the easier choice; screw cover is the norm for fixed installations and gives a tighter closure.
5) Is this B-Line wireway approved for a Canadian jobsite?
It's CSA Certified, so it's acceptable for use in Canada as well as the US. That matters on institutional and industrial specs that call out CSA on all raceway and enclosure products.
6) Do connectors, elbows, and end plates come with the 10 foot wireway section?
What you're ordering is the straight 120 inch trough with its screw cover. Fittings that make the run work, couplings between sections, elbows, tees, and end closing plates, are separate items. Count your corners and terminations before ordering so the run isn't held up waiting on a 90 or an end plate.
7) Should I use 3x3 wireway or just run more conduit?
A 3 x 3 trough like the 33120 G NK earns its place where you have many circuits converging, such as a bank of panels, motor starters, or lighting contactors, and you want one gutter to pull into and tap out of rather than a dozen separate conduit runs. Conduit is better for long point to point runs and anywhere the route is wet or exposed, since this trough is NEMA 1 indoor only. With no knockouts, every branch off the trough gets punched exactly where you want it.
