B-LINE 6612-12FW – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Is the Eaton B-Line 6612-12FW wireway rated for wet or oily locations?
It's a NEMA 12 enclosure, which covers indoor protection against dust, falling dirt and dripping non-corrosive liquids. That rating comes from the seamless poured in-place gasket and the hinged cover clamped down with screw clamps. NEMA 12 is not a wet-location or outdoor rating, so for washdown or rain exposure you want a NEMA 3R or 4 wireway instead.
2) What size is the 6612-12FW wireway body, and what length of run does one piece cover?
One section is a 6 x 6 inch cross-section, 12 inches long. That's a short straight section, typically used to close a gap in a run, tie into a panel, or make up a pull point rather than to carry a long run by itself.
3) Do I get access to the conductors without unbolting the cover?
Yes. The 6612-12FW uses a hinged cover on heavy-duty hinges with screw clamps, so you back off the clamps and swing it open. Nothing to set down or lose on a ladder, which is the practical difference from a screw-cover wireway.
4) How is this 6x6 wireway section supported, and is the hardware included?
It's built for wireway hanger support. Hangers, brackets and connectors for joining sections are ordered separately from the wireway body itself.
5) What gauge steel and finish is the B-Line 12FW wireway, and will it match my existing gear?
14 gauge steel finished in ANSI 61 gray, the standard gray used on most switchgear and panelboards, so a run reads as part of the same system as the equipment it feeds.
6) Is the B-Line 6612-12FW approved for use in Canada?
It's certified to CSA C22.2, so it's acceptable for Canadian installations as well as US work.
