The 6660-12FW is a NEMA 12 wireway, so it is built for indoor use against falling dirt, dust, dripping non-corrosive liquids and circulating oils. That comes from the seamless poured in-place gasket and the hinged cover clamped down with screw clamps. It is not a NEMA 3R or 4X enclosure, so do not use it outdoors, in direct hosedown, or in corrosive wet areas.

The 6660-12FW mounts by wireway hanger, which is the trapeze-style support that cradles the trough from above for a suspended run. The section itself is the trough and hinged cover; plan on ordering hangers, connectors and end plates separately to close out a run.

Hinged. The cover swings on heavy-duty hinges and is held shut with screw clamps, so you can open a run for pulling or inspection without unbolting a loose cover and without losing hardware into the ceiling. If your spec calls for a fully removable screw cover instead, this is the wrong closure type.

It carries CSA C22.2 certification, so it is recognized for Canadian installations as well as US work. That matters on cross-border industrial and institutional specs where an uncertified gutter gets rejected at inspection.

Pick the type by environment. A NEMA 1 screw-cover gutter is fine for clean, dry indoor spaces and costs you nothing in sealing hardware. The 6660-12FW is the NEMA 12 version: gasketed with a seamless poured in-place gasket and clamped shut, which is what you want in a machine shop, food plant utility area or anywhere coolant mist, dust or dripping condensate is present. The hinged cover also pays for itself on runs you open more than once.

It is painted ANSI 61 gray, the standard light gray used across industrial panels, disconnects and gutter, so it blends with most existing switchgear and enclosure runs. Useful if you are standardizing a facility and want added sections to look like the ones already on the wall.
