B-LINE 6624 HS – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Is the B-Line 6624 HS wireway 6x6 inside, and how long is the section?
It's a 6 by 6 inch cross section, 24 inches long. That's the standard 6x6 trough size, so it lines up with other 6x6 wireway sections, elbows, tees and connectors rather than 4x4 or 8x8 fittings.
2) Can I use this B-Line 6624 HS wireway outdoors or in a washdown area?
No. The 6624 HS is a NEMA 1 enclosure, which is indoor, general purpose protection against incidental contact and falling dirt only. It offers no rating against rain, hose-down or dust, so for an exterior run or a wet location you need a NEMA 3R or 4 rated wireway instead.
3) How does the cover open on the B-Line 6624 HS, and do I need tools to get into it?
The cover is hinged, so it swings open along one side instead of lifting off completely, which matters when the trough is mounted overhead and you don't want to juggle a loose lid. It's held closed to the body with plated screws, so you'll need a driver to open it.
4) How does this 6x6 wireway mount to a wall or strut?
Mounting is through holes in the back of the trough, so you fasten it directly to the wall, backboard or strut with your own hardware. Fasteners aren't part of the section, so pick them for the substrate you're anchoring into.
5) Does the B-Line 6624 HS wireway come with knockouts already, or do I have to punch my own?
It ships with 7 knockouts on the top and 7 on the bottom, so conduit entries into a panel above or below are already provided for on a 24 inch run. Side or end entries you make yourself.
6) Is this wireway approved for a job in Canada?
The 6624 HS carries CSA C22.2 certification, which is the Canadian standard family inspectors look for on enclosures and wireway.
7) What gauge steel is this B-Line wireway, and what's the finish?
16 gauge steel, painted ANSI 61 gray. That's the usual gray used on switchgear and panelboards, so a run of it matches the equipment it feeds into.
