1) Can I install this B-Line 8860 wireway outdoors or in a washdown area?
No. It's a NEMA 1 enclosure, which is indoor use only and protects against incidental contact and falling dirt, not rain, sleet, or hose-down. For an exterior run or a wet location you need a NEMA 3R or 4X rated trough instead.
2) Does the 3RAHS NK wireway come with knockouts for conduit?
No knockouts. The 8860-3RAHS NK is supplied blank, so every conduit entry gets field drilled or punched where you want it. That's normally what an electrician prefers on a feeder trough, but it does mean you need a knockout punch or hole saw on site.
3) How does the cover open on the Eaton B-Line 8860 wireway?
Hinged cover. It swings open rather than lifting off, so you can pull and land conductors without juggling a loose lid, and it stays captive on the trough. The cover is secured to the body with a gasketed retaining stainless steel screw.
4) Is the B-Line 8860-3RAHS NK wireway aluminum or painted steel?
Aluminum body, finished in ANSI 61 gray at 0.08 inch material thickness. Aluminum is the choice where corrosion or weight is a concern on an indoor run, and the ANSI 61 gray matches standard switchgear and panel finishes.
5) How do you mount this 8 x 8 wireway to a wall or strut?
The trough has embossed thru holes in the back, so it bolts straight to a wall, backboard, or strut without drilling the body. Hardware and any strut or brackets are separate items, as are couplers, elbows, and end caps needed to join sections.
6) Is this wireway approved for use in Canada?
The 8860-3RAHS NK carries CSA C22.2 certification, which is the Canadian standard an inspector will look for on an enclosure of this type.
