B-LINE 101024 HSNK – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Is the 101024 HSNK wireway rated for outdoor or wet locations?
No. It's a NEMA 1 enclosure, which means indoor, dry locations only, providing protection against incidental contact with the enclosed wiring and falling dirt. Do not use it outdoors, in washdown areas, or anywhere it can see rain or hose spray. For those locations you need a NEMA 3R or 4 rated trough instead.
2) Does the B-Line 101024 HSNK wireway come with knockouts already punched?
No knockouts. The body is supplied blank apart from the mounting thru holes, so every conduit entry gets field punched or drilled where your run actually lands. Plan on a knockout punch set on site. If you would rather not punch in the field, order a trough version with factory knockouts.
3) How does the hinged cover work, and can I get at the wiring after it's mounted?
The cover is hinged along one side, so it swings open rather than lifting off, which keeps it captive when you're working off a ladder. It's held shut to the body with plated screws, so you back those out, swing the cover, and the channel is fully open for pulling or re-terminating. Hinged covers are the usual choice where a trough gets opened repeatedly for troubleshooting.
4) What gauge steel is the 101024 HSNK trough, and will the finish match my existing panels?
It's 14 gauge steel finished in ANSI 61 gray, the standard gray used on most industrial panelboards, control enclosures, and gutter, so a run of it will match adjacent B-Line and other ANSI 61 gear without repainting. The 14 gauge body is heavier wall than the lighter-gauge screw-cover troughs, which matters on longer unsupported spans and where the trough takes knocks in a shop or plant room.
5) Is this trough listed for Canadian work?
The 101024 HSNK wireway is certified to CSA C22.2, so it's acceptable for Canadian installations as well as US work.
6) Can I join several of these troughs together for a longer run?
Yes, sections of the same 10 x 10 inch cross section line up end to end, and the ends are field punched since the body ships with no knockouts. You cut or punch the mating openings and bolt the flanges together, so a 24 inch section is a building block rather than a fixed-length assembly. Keep the hinge on the same side through the run so all the covers swing the same way.
