The 4418 GRT is a NEMA 3R rated trough, so it is built for outdoor use where falling rain and sleet are the concern. The screw cover seats against a flange and is held by plated screws, which is what keeps water out of the top. It is not a watertight or washdown enclosure, so keep it off locations subject to hose-down or submersion.

Mounting is through embossed thru holes in the back of the box, so it fastens flat to a wall, backboard, or strut with your own hardware. The embossed holes are formed so the fastener heads sit against a raised surface rather than pulling the sheet metal. No mounting feet or brackets are part of the trough itself, so plan on supplying screws or bolts suited to the substrate.

There are 5 bottom knockouts provided. Anything else, including side or end penetrations for connecting multiple troughs or landing conduit, you punch in the field with a knockout set. The body is 16 gauge steel, so a hydraulic or ratchet punch is the clean way to do it.

A screw cover like the 4418 GRT gives you a fully removable lid held by plated screws against a flange, which is what earns the 3R rating and keeps the cover from being casually opened. That is the right pick for exterior walls, service equipment areas, and anywhere you want the cover to stay put. If you are opening the gutter regularly for troubleshooting or adds, a hinged cover version saves time; the tradeoff is that a screw cover is slower to service but sits tighter.

It is CSA Certified, which covers Canadian installations. Steel construction in 16 gauge with a NEMA 3R screw cover.

The finish is ANSI 61 gray, the standard light gray used across switchgear, panelboards, and enclosures, so it lines up visually with most industrial and utility equipment already on the wall. Useful when a spec calls out a uniform ANSI 61 finish across the installation.
