B-LINE 4472 G – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Is the Eaton B-Line 4472 G wireway rated for outdoor or wet locations?
No. The 4472 G is a NEMA 1 enclosure, which is indoor general purpose only, with no gasketing against water. For outdoor, washdown, or damp locations you need a NEMA 3R or 4 rated trough instead. The screw cover on this one seats with plated screws, not a gasket.
2) How does the 4472 G wireway mount, and do I need extra hardware?
Mounting is through holes in the body, so it fastens directly to a wall, strut, or backpan with your own fasteners sized to the substrate. No mounting brackets or anchors are part of the trough, and the fasteners supplied with it are the plated screws for the cover.
3) Does this wireway come with knockouts already, or do I have to punch my own?
It ships with 23 knockouts on the top and 23 on the bottom, so conduit entries down the length of the run are already provided. That spacing suits repeated drops into a row of panels or disconnects; you only need to punch if you want an entry the factory pattern does not give you.
4) Is a screw cover trough the right choice, or should I get a hinged cover instead?
The 4472 G uses a screw-on cover held by plated screws. That is what you want on a run that gets wired once and rarely opened, because the cover clamps down tight along its whole length. If you expect to be back in the trough regularly for changes or troubleshooting, a hinged or quick-release cover wireway saves time, since a 72 inch screw cover means backing out every screw before you can get in.
5) Is this B-Line wireway approved for use on a job in Canada?
The 4472 G is CSA Certified, so it is acceptable for Canadian installations as well as US work. Cite part number 4472 G on the submittal.
6) Will the gray finish on this trough match the panelboards and control cabinets already in my electrical room?
The finish is ANSI 61 gray, the standard gray used on most switchgear, panelboards, and industrial control enclosures, so it lines up visually with existing gear in a typical electrical room or plant floor.
