Keep it in dry interior spaces like electrical rooms, mechanical rooms, and back-of-house runs. For a washdown area, a rooftop, or anywhere exposed to rain or hose spray, you need a NEMA 3R or NEMA 4 raintight trough instead.

Knockouts are already there: 15 on the top and 15 on the bottom of the 48 inch body. Sides and ends are the GGV NK (no knockout) configuration, so you punch those yourself where you need them. If your conduit runs come in from the sides rather than vertically, plan on a knockout punch on site.

It is a screw cover, held on with plated screws along the length. That means you need a driver and a free hand to pull the lid, and you should leave clearance in front of the run to lift the cover clear.
