1) Is the Eaton B-Line 6660 GGV wireway rated for outdoor or wet locations?
No. The 6660 GGV is a NEMA 1 wireway, which is indoor general purpose only. It has no gasket, and the screw cover is not sealed against water or dust, so keep it out of washdown areas, rooftops, and any damp or wet location. For outdoors or wet areas you need a NEMA 3R raintight trough instead.
2) What are the actual cross section and length of the 6660 GGV trough, and how much wire can I run in it?
It is a 6 x 6 inch cross section, 60 inches long, giving 36 square inches of internal cross sectional area before deductions for the body steel. NEC limits conductor fill in a wireway to 20 percent of the cross sectional area, so plan around that when you size your bundle. The 6 x 6 size is the common workhorse for panel gutter and motor control feeds where a 4 x 4 gets crowded.
3) Does this B-Line wireway come with knockouts already punched, or do I have to drill it?
It comes punched. The 6660 GGV has 19 knockouts on the top and 19 on the bottom, so you can land conduit runs on either face without pulling out a hole saw. Nothing is punched in the ends or the cover, so end feeds and cover penetrations are yours to make.
4) Do I get couplings, end plates, or elbows with a 6660 GGV section?
No. What you receive is the 60 inch 6 x 6 trough body with its screw cover and plated screws. Connectors, closing plates for the open ends, elbows, tees, and any hanging hardware are separate items, and they need to be the same 6 x 6 wireway size to line up. Budget end closing plates for any run, since the ends ship open for coupling.
5) How is the cover held on, and can I get into it after it is installed?
The cover is a screw cover, fastened with plated screws along the length. It is fully removable for pulling and splicing, but you need a driver and both hands, so leave clearance above or in front of the trough. If you are opening the same run constantly for service, a hinged cover trough is the easier choice.
6) What gauge steel and finish is this trough, and will it match the other wireway already on my job?
Body and cover are 16 gauge galvanized steel finished in gray, with plated screws. That gray galvanized-and-painted look is the standard Eaton B-Line wireway appearance, so a run built from 6660 GGV sections and matching B-Line fittings reads as one continuous system. If the existing run on your job is a different manufacturer, match the size and color visually but expect the knockout pattern and cover screw spacing to differ.
7) Is this Eaton B-Line wireway certified for use in Canada?
Yes, the 6660 GGV is CSA Certified, which is what an inspector in Canada will look for on a wireway. The enclosure type is NEMA 1, indoor general purpose.
