A 12WT trough is the right choice when you have more conductors, taps, or terminal blocks than a pull box handles neatly, and you want room to route them along a wall. The 8 x 8 inch cross section gives generous bending space for large conduit entries, and the hinged cover means the splices stay accessible. What it is not is a rated panelboard or a load center, and the NEMA 12 rating limits it to indoor dust and drip locations only.

Plan on making your own openings.
