It is a NEMA 12 enclosure, which covers falling dirt, circulating dust, lint and dripping non-corrosive liquids. That suits indoor plant floors, shops and mechanical rooms. It is not a NEMA 4 or 4X rating, so it is not intended for hosedown, direct water spray, or outdoor exposure. For those locations you need a rain-tight or watertight wireway instead.

It comes with welded external mounting feet, so the fastener holes sit outside the wiring space and you are not drilling through the trough body or compromising the seal to hang it. Bolt through the feet into the wall, strut, or backboard. Because the feet are external, the full 8 x 8 inch interior stays clear for conductors.

The cover is hinged, secured with heavy-duty hinges and screw clamps, so it swings open for splicing and pulling instead of coming off as a loose lift-off panel you have to hold. On an overhead run that is the difference between a one-man job and a two-man job. Loosen the screw clamps, swing the cover, work the conductors, close and re-clamp.

The gasket is a seamless poured in-place type, formed directly on the enclosure rather than cut from stock and glued in. There is no butt joint to open up at a corner, which is the usual failure point on a dust-tight cover, and nothing to fall out when the cover is swung open repeatedly during service.

It is built to CSA C22.2, so it is recognized for Canadian installations as well as US work. If a submittal or an inspector is asking for the standard reference on the wireway, CSA C22.2 is the one to cite for the 8860-12WT.

Wireway of this type is run in sections and coupled end to end, so a 60 inch body is one length of a longer run rather than the limit. Order the number of 60 inch sections your run needs, plus the connectors, elbows and closing plates for the layout. Those fittings are separate items and are not supplied with the trough itself.

Order it as B-Line 8860-12WT. The number reads directly off the size and rating: 88 for the 8 x 8 inch cross section, 60 for the 60 inch length, and 12WT for the NEMA 12 wiring trough style with hinged cover.

14 gauge steel throughout, finished gray. That is a commercial-weight body that holds its shape when you are pulling a heavy bundle through it and takes the load of a hinged cover without racking. The gray finish matches typical panelboard and enclosure work, so it does not stand out on an equipment wall.
