1) What is the difference between the flat blank and the raised Crouse-Hinds 4-11/16 square covers?
Four choices, and they solve different problems. TP568 is a flat blank, used to close off an unused or junction-only box. TP572 is flat with one 1/2 inch knockout, so you can bring conduit or a fitting through the cover face. TP569 is a 1/2 inch raised cover with 2-1/4 inch ears, and TP570 is the same with a 3/4 inch raise. The raise buys you extra wiring volume and brings the device or plate out flush with the finished wall surface; the ears give you the device mounting points.
2) Which 4-11/16 square cover do I order if I need to run 1/2 inch conduit through the cover?
TP572. It is the flat version with a single 1/2 inch knockout in it, so a 1/2 inch connector or chase nipple lands straight through the cover face. The plain flat blank, TP568, has no knockout and would have to be drilled and bushed, which is not a code-clean way to finish it.
3) Can I use a Crouse-Hinds TP570 square box cover in a hazardous or classified area?
No. These 4-11/16 square steel covers are rated for ordinary, non-hazardous locations only. A Class I or Class II classified area needs a listed explosionproof or dust-ignitionproof enclosure and cover assembly, not a standard sheet steel box cover.
