1) Can I use this Crouse-Hinds squeeze connector on liquidtight flexible conduit or on AC/MC cable?
No. This squeeze connector is built for FMC (flexible metal conduit) only. Liquidtight flexible metal conduit needs a liquidtight connector with a sealing gland and gasket, and armored cable or MC cable needs a connector listed for that cable type. Using an FMC fitting on liquidtight gives you no seal at all.
2) Is this connector approved for hazardous or classified locations like a paint booth or fuel area?
No. It is rated for ordinary, non-hazardous locations. Class I, II or III classified areas require explosionproof flexible couplings and fittings listed for that classification, so do not substitute this fitting there.
3) Does a non-insulated squeeze connector still give me ground continuity back to the box?
Yes. The malleable iron body carries ground continuity through the fitting, which is what the non-insulated configuration is for. Non-insulated means there is no plastic throat bushing protecting the conductors as they leave the fitting, so where the installation calls for an insulated throat you want the insulated version instead.
4) Malleable iron versus die-cast zinc flex connectors, which should I use?
Malleable iron is the tougher of the two and resists cracking when the squeeze clamp is torqued down or the fitting takes a knock, which is why it is specified on industrial and commercial runs. Die-cast zinc fittings cover the same FMC function at lighter duty. If the job spec calls out malleable iron, the zinc body will not satisfy it.
5) Will this squeeze connector meet code for a commercial electrical inspection?
The fitting is built to NEC/CEC standards for flexible metal conduit terminations in ordinary locations, which covers commercial buildings, offices, retail, schools, healthcare and multi-family work. For classified or wet locations you need a different fitting type.
6) How does a squeeze connector install compared with a screw-in or snap-in flex fitting?
The squeeze style clamps the FMC between the fitting body and a saddle pulled down by screws, so you slide the flex in and tighten rather than threading the fitting into the convolutions. That makes it quick in tight spaces and it holds on cut ends of flex that a screw-in fitting would not grip cleanly.
7) I need to standardize flex connectors across a facility. Can I order one part number for all my conduit sizes?
