1) Will the Crouse-Hinds EYS sealing fitting work in a horizontal conduit run?
No. The EYS is a vertical-only seal, so it has to be installed in a vertical section of conduit. Mount it horizontally and the sealing compound won't dam correctly around the fiber. If the run you're sealing is horizontal, you need a fitting rated for horizontal or any-position sealing instead, not this one.
2) Is the Crouse-Hinds EYS rated for hydrogen atmospheres?
Yes. The EYS carries a Group B rating, which is the hydrogen group under the NEC. That matters on battery rooms, hydrogen storage, and electrolysis areas where a Group C or D only fitting would not be acceptable.
3) Can I use the EYS sealing fitting in a Class I Division 1 area?
