Crouse-Hinds LBNEC Mogul Pulling Elbow — Copper-Free Aluminum, Rigid/IMC
The Crouse-Hinds LBNEC Mogul Pulling Elbow is a large-radius conduit elbow designed to simplify wire pulling in rigid metal conduit (RMC) and intermediate metal conduit (IMC) systems. The removable cover plate provides direct access to the conduit interior, allowing conductors to be pulled through 90° changes of direction without the friction and damage risk of a standard sweep elbow. Copper-free aluminum construction keeps weight down while delivering the corrosion resistance required for long-service commercial and industrial installations. Available in trade sizes 2" through 4".
Key Features
- Copper-Free Aluminum Body: Lightweight, corrosion-resistant, and suitable for environments where copper content must be minimized.
- Tapered-Thread Hubs: NPT-compatible tapered threads form a secure, mechanically tight connection to rigid and IMC conduit — no thread sealant required for standard installations.
- Mogul (Large-Radius) Design: Generous interior radius reduces pulling tension on conductors, protecting insulation and easing installation of large-gauge wire.
- Removable Cover Plate: Bolted access cover opens the elbow body for conductor pulling, then closes to provide a weatherable, code-compliant enclosure.
- NEC/CEC Compliant: Meets applicable code requirements for conduit fittings in ordinary (non-hazardous) locations.
- Trade Sizes 2" – 4": Covers the most common large-conduit runs in commercial, industrial, and institutional electrical systems.
Technical Specifications
- Material: Copper-free aluminum
- Conduit Compatibility: Rigid Metal Conduit (RMC) / Intermediate Metal Conduit (IMC)
- Thread Type: Tapered (NPT)
- Area Classification: Ordinary / Non-Hazardous Locations
- Standards: NEC / CEC
- Available Trade Sizes: 2", 2-1/2", 3", 4"
Installation Notes
- Thread hubs onto conduit ends and tighten to full engagement — tapered threads self-seal mechanically.
- Remove the cover plate before pulling conductors; reinstall and torque fasteners to spec after pull is complete.
- Orient the elbow so the cover plate is accessible for future re-pulls or conductor additions.
- Inspect threads and seating surfaces for damage before installation in wet or damp locations.
Typical Applications
- Commercial and industrial building electrical distribution
- Institutional and campus infrastructure (healthcare, education, government)
- Multi-family and mixed-use residential electrical systems
- Industrial facility conduit runs requiring large-radius direction changes
- Utility and infrastructure projects using rigid or IMC conduit
Why Crouse-Hinds?
Crouse-Hinds has been a standard of the electrical industry for over a century. The LBNEC series is manufactured to tight dimensional tolerances, ensuring consistent thread engagement and cover-plate fit across every trade size. For contractors and facility teams who need a pulling elbow they can trust to go in right the first time, LBNEC is the specification-grade choice.
