It has to sit in a SmartWire-DT control station assembly with the network cable and power to function. If you are wiring a conventional panel, you need a standard hard-wired M22 LED element instead.
4) Does the M22-SWD-LED come with the pushbutton or lens, or is it just the rear element?
It is the control station element only, the SmartWire-DT rear block that mounts behind the operator. The front actuator, lens, and mounting collar are separate M22 parts you order to match the station you are building.

On a conventional station every lamp and contact runs its own pair back to the I/O card. SmartWire-DT elements share one flat network cable down the row of devices, so you drop the individual point-to-point runs and get device-level diagnostics off the same line. The tradeoff is that the system only pays off if you are building the whole station on SmartWire-DT, since each element is useless on its own.
