1) Is the Eaton EZ Trim EZT2036F a panel cover only, or does it include the panelboard interior?
It's the trim only. The Pow-R-Xpress EZ Trim is the NEMA 1 front cover that finishes the panelboard opening, 20 inches wide with a 5.75 inch depth dimension. The box, interior and breakers are ordered separately.
2) Can I use this Eaton EZ Trim on a surface-mounted panelboard?
No. The EZT20 F trims are flush trims, built to overlap the wall finish on a recessed box. A surface-mounted box needs a surface trim instead, which sits flush to the box edges rather than lapping the wall.
3) Is the Eaton Pow-R-Xpress EZ Trim rated for outdoor or wet locations?
Indoor only. NEMA 1 covers incidental contact with live parts and falling dirt, with no protection against rain, splashing or dust ingress. For an exterior wall, a loading dock, or a washdown area you need a NEMA 3R or better enclosure.
4) I have a 20 inch wide Eaton panelboard box but I am not sure of the height. Which trim do I order?
Measure the box height, not the interior. The EZT20 series runs 36, 42, 48, 60, 72 and 90 inches, all at 20 inches wide, so there is a trim for each standard box height in that width. If your box is a different width than 20 inches, this family will not cover the opening.
5) Why is the EZ Trim unvented, and does that matter for heat?
Unvented means a solid front with no louvers, so the trim contributes nothing to airflow and nothing passes through it into the wall cavity. Panelboard heat is handled by the box and its gutter space, not the cover. A solid front also keeps the finished wall looking clean in a lobby or office corridor.
6) Can I standardize on one trim across several panels in a building with this Eaton series?
Yes, as long as those panels use 20 inch wide flush boxes. Keeping the width common and varying only the height (36 to 90 inches) lets a facility stock one trim family, and the flush profile gives every panel the same finished appearance across floors.
