1) Will the FDB2100 breaker work on a 480V three-phase panel?
The FDB2100 is rated 600 Vac and 250 Vdc, so it can be applied on a 480 Vac system. Watch the interrupting capacity though: it is 18 kAIC at 240 Vac but drops to 14 kAIC at 480 Vac. If your available fault current at the panel exceeds 14 kA at 480 V, this breaker is not adequately rated for that location. It is a two-pole device, so on a three-phase system it covers two phases only.
2) Is the FDB2100 a complete breaker or just a frame that needs a trip unit?
It ships as a complete breaker, not a bare frame. The trip is fixed thermal and fixed magnetic, so there are no interchangeable trip units or adjustable settings to specify or order separately. You get a 100A two-pole F-frame device ready to install.
3) Can I swap an existing Eaton FD-frame breaker for the FDB2100?
The FDB2100 is an Eaton Series C F-frame breaker, type FDB, rated 100A two-pole. An F-frame breaker mounts in the space an F-frame breaker already occupies, so it lines up with another Series C F-frame two-pole in the same panel or enclosure. What you do have to match is the interrupting rating the panel was designed around: this one is 18 kAIC at 240 Vac and 14 kAIC at 480 Vac, and a higher-interrupting FDC or FDE type is not replaced by an FDB without checking that.
4) What are the dimensions of the FDB2100 so I know it fits my enclosure?
Measures 6 x 3.38 x 2.75 inches (height, length, width) and weighs 3 lb. That is the standard two-pole F-frame footprint, so check the breaker cutout and gutter space in your enclosure against those numbers before you cut a cover plate.
5) Does the FDB2100 come with lugs on both line and load ends?
Terminals are load side. Plan your line-side connection accordingly, whether that is a panel bus stab, a busbar connector, or line-side lug kit ordered separately.
6) Can I use the FDB2100 on a DC circuit or on 50 Hz power?
Both work. The breaker is rated 250 Vdc as well as 600 Vac, and the frequency rating covers 50/60 Hz, so it applies on export or 50 Hz industrial equipment as well as domestic 60 Hz service. On DC, note that the published interrupting values, 18 kAIC at 240 Vac and 14 kAIC at 480 Vac, are AC figures.
7) Can the trip setting on the FDB2100 be adjusted for a motor load?
No. The trip is fixed thermal and fixed magnetic, so the 100A rating and the instantaneous pickup are both non-adjustable. If your motor circuit needs an adjustable instantaneous setting to ride through inrush, a fixed-trip FDB is the wrong choice and you want an electronic or adjustable-magnetic frame instead.
