2) What does an undervoltage release actually do on a molded case breaker?
An undervoltage release trips the breaker when its control voltage drops or is removed. On the UVH6RP21K that control source is 24 Vdc, so dropping the 24 Vdc signal, whether from a loss of control power, an E-stop, or a fire alarm relay, opens the R-frame breaker. It is the opposite logic of a shunt trip, which needs voltage applied to trip.
3) Does the Eaton undervoltage release come with wire leads or does it land on terminals?
Pigtail leads. The UVH6RP21K ships with flying leads off the device, so you splice into the 24 Vdc control wiring rather than landing on a terminal block on the accessory itself.
