1) Does the Emtek 1142 multi point trim include the mortise lock body?
No. The 1142 is trim only: plates and handles. The multi point mortise lock box is a separate purchase, so you need to already have the gear box in the door or order one that matches your door manufacturer's configuration.
2) What is Door Configuration #1 on Emtek multi point trim, and how do I know it's the right one for my patio door?
Configuration #1 refers to the hole layout on the door: handle set with the cylinder position below the handle, at 3-5/8 inch center-to-center between the handle and cylinder bore. Measure that dimension on your existing door prep. The 1142 is referenced against multi point systems from Atrium, G-U, KML by Andersen, Andersen, Marvin Integrity, Paddock Lockmaster and Superior.
3) Will Emtek Tuscany 1142 trim work on a 1-3/4 inch swinging patio door?
Yes, it covers 1-3/8 inch through 1-3/4 inch doors, which spans standard commercial-thickness and lighter residential patio slabs. Door thickness is a field you enter when ordering so the spindle and screw pack are sized to your slab. Backset is adjustable 2-3/8 or 2-3/4 inch, with a 2-1/8 inch cross bore.
4) Does the non-keyed passage version of the 1142 lock the door at all?
The 1142 in passage function has no cylinder and no key: the trim just operates the lever. Any locking comes from the multi point gear box itself and whatever you throw with the interior thumbturn or lever lift. If you need a keyed exterior on this same Tuscany plate, order the keyed version of the trim instead. The trim is set up for an American-style cylinder positioned below the handle when keyed.
5) What do I have to specify when ordering Emtek 1142 Tuscany trim?
Four things. Finish, either Flat Black Bronze (FB) or Medium Bronze (MB). Lever style, from Medici (MD), Napoli (NA), Octagon (OCL) or Padua (PD). Handing, right or left. And door thickness, which is an optional text entry. Handing is required because a patio door lever set is not reversible in the field on this trim.
6) Will Emtek Tuscany bronze trim match the other Tuscany levers and knobs already on my house?
It is built to. The 1142 plates are lost wax cast bronze in the Tuscany Bronze collection and can be ordered with any Tuscany lost wax cast bronze lever, so the patio door reads the same as the interior doors in the same family. Finish choices are Flat Black Bronze and Medium Bronze, both living finishes typical of cast bronze.
7) How big are the 1142 escutcheon plates, and will they cover my old trim's marks?
Each plate measures 2 by 10-1/2 inches. That is a narrow, tall plate, so it hides a vertical run of old screw holes well but will not cover anything wider than 2 inches. Measure your existing plate footprint before you pull it.
