1) Does the Emtek 1271 multi point trim include the multi point lock body?
No. The 1271 is trim only, so you get the plates, the handles and the cylinder. The multi point mortise lock box has to come from elsewhere, normally the door manufacturer, and it stays in the door. Order this when the gearbox in the patio door is sound and you're changing the look or replacing damaged trim, not when the lock mechanism itself has failed.

The Concord plate measures 1-1/2 by 11 inches, in brass. That's a narrow plate, so it covers the two prepped hub holes at 3-5/8 inch centers and little more. If your existing plate is wider or the door has extra screw holes outside that footprint, they'll show. Hold a tape to the old plate first.
4) Can I key the Emtek 1271 to match the Schlage or Kwikset keys I already carry?
Yes. The cylinder is ordered in either a Schlage keyway or a Weiser WR5 keyway, and Weiser WR5 is the same keyway family Kwikset-type keys use. You also pick keyed different or keyed alike at no charge, and there's a field to enter an existing key code if you want the trim cut to a code already running in the building. For a property manager standardizing a row of patio doors, keyed alike plus a code is the order to place.
5) Do I have to specify handing when ordering Emtek multi point lock trim?
Handing is required on the 1271, right hand or left hand, and it is not reversible after the fact. Stand outside the door: the side the hinges are on determines the hand. Get it wrong and the lever pitches the wrong way and the cylinder sits off. On a pair of patio doors only the active leaf takes this trim.

Eight finishes, each available with either keyway: Oil Rubbed Bronze (US10B), Satin Nickel (US15), Pewter (US15A), Flat Black (US19), Polished Chrome (US26), Polished Brass Lifetime (US3), Unlacquered Brass (US3NL) and French Antique (US7). Unlacquered brass will patina with handling and weather, which is the point of it; if you want the entry to stay bright and matched to interior levers years from now, US3 Lifetime is the one that holds.
10) Is this an electronic or smart lock trim?
No, the 1271 is mechanical only, keyed with an American cylinder. There's no keypad, no motor and no wiring to run to the patio door.
