Emtek 1385-US15 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What does Dummy mean on an Emtek 1385 multi point trim, and where would I use it?
Dummy means there is no working latch or cylinder in the trim. It is a fixed pull set, used on the inactive leaf of a pair of swinging patio doors, or on any leaf where you only need a handle to pull the door closed. It is not keyed and has no electronic function, so if you need locking on that leaf, this is the wrong trim.
2) Will the Emtek 1385 trim fit a 1-3/4 inch patio door?
Yes. The 1385 Concord trim covers doors from 1-3/8 inch to 1-3/4 inch thick. It is a surface mount set, so no door prep is required for the plates themselves. There is a door thickness field on the order so you can state your exact thickness.
3) What is the center-to-center spacing on the Emtek Concord multi point trim, and will it line up with my existing lock?
The Concord 1385 plates are drilled 4-1/8 inch center-to-center, with the cylinder position above the handle. Your existing multi point lock body has to match that 4-1/8 inch spacing and that cylinder-over-handle layout, which is what Door Configuration #3 describes. If your lock uses a different spacing, you need the trim for that configuration instead.
4) Do I have to specify handing when ordering the Emtek 1385 dummy trim?
Yes, handing is required. You pick right hand or left hand, along with a lever style and, optionally, your door thickness. Handing is determined by the door the trim goes on, so confirm it at the opening before you order.
5) What finishes does the Emtek 1385 Concord trim come in?
Eight: Oil Rubbed Bronze (US10B), Satin Nickel (US15), Pewter (US15A), Flat Black (US19), Polished Chrome (US26), Polished Brass Lifetime (US3), Unlacquered Brass (US3NL) and French Antique (US7). Unlacquered brass will patina over time, the other seven hold their appearance, which matters if you are matching several openings in one house.
6) How big are the Concord style plates on the Emtek 1385?
The Concord plates measure 2 x 10-1/2 inches. On a narrow patio door stile, measure your stile face before ordering, since the 2 inch plate width has to sit flat on the stile.
7) Which levers can I put on the Emtek 1385 Concord trim?
Any Emtek brass lever. The selection spans the L-Square, T-Bar and R-Bar bar levers in Faceted, Hammered, Knurled, Tribeca, Straight Knurled and White Marble, plus cast styles like Athena, Luzern, Poseidon, Stuttgart, Cortina, Milano, Turino, Coventry, Rope, Rustic, Santa Fe, Wembley, Arts and Crafts and Hammered. Lever style is a required choice on the order.
8) If I later want a keyed handle set on this door, what cylinder does the Concord multi point trim take?
Concord multi point trim is built around an American cylinder with the cylinder position above the handle. The 1385 itself is a dummy pair with no cylinder, so if you need key function on that leaf, order the keyed version of the Concord trim in Configuration #3 rather than adding a cylinder to this one.
9) Is the Emtek 1385 multi point trim solid brass, and is it suitable for a commercial entrance?
The plates and handles are brass, from Emtek's Brass collection. It is rated residential, so for a high traffic commercial entrance you want commercial grade hardware rather than this patio door trim.
