1) Does the Emtek 15B4 multi point trim include the lock body, or do I need to order the mortise lock separately?
Trim only. The 15B4 set gives you the plates and handles; the multi point mortise lock box is not included and has to be sourced separately, usually from the door manufacturer that supplied the slab. Order it as the finish hardware over a multi point lock that is already in the door or already specified.
2) My patio door is a Therma-Tru unit. Does Emtek multi point trim fit it?

Confirm the 3-5/8 inch center-to-center and euro profile cylinder prep on your specific unit, since those makers used more than one gear over the years.
3) Will the 15B4 trim line up with my existing multi point lock prep?
The critical number is the 3-5/8 inch center-to-center from the handle spindle to the cylinder hole, with the cylinder sitting below the handle. Measure that dimension on your current escutcheon or the door prep. If your lock is on a different CTC, the plate holes will not line up. Plates are 2 by 10 inches, so also check that your existing plate is not larger and leaving an unfinished outline on the stile.
4) What do I have to specify when I order the Emtek 15B4?
Three things beyond finish. Handing, right or left. Lever style, which is required and runs from the modern L-Square, T-Bar and R-Bar families (faceted, hammered, knurled, Tribeca, straight knurled, white marble) through levers such as Athena, Poseidon, Stuttgart, Geneva, Milano, Coventry and Arts and Crafts. Door thickness is an optional entry. Finish choices are Oil Rubbed Bronze US10B, Polished Nickel Lifetime US14, Satin Nickel US15, Flat Black US19, Polished Chrome US26, Unlacquered Brass US3NL and Satin Brass US4.
5) I need trim for both leaves of my French doors. Is the 15B4 enough?
No. The 15B4 covers the semi-active leaf only, with a dummy handle outside and an operating lever inside. The active leaf needs its own trim with the keyed function and euro cylinder. Order both in the same finish and lever style so the pair matches.
6) What cylinder does this Emtek multi point trim take?
Euro profile, positioned below the handle. The 15B4 itself is the non-keyed configuration, so no cylinder is used on this leaf, but the plate is cut for euro profile because the family shares one plate. If you are keying the active leaf of the same pair, that is where the euro cylinder goes.
7) Why does handing matter on a trim set with no key cylinder?
The lever has to swing the right way on a semi-active leaf and the interior operating handle is built to a hand. Emtek requires right hand or left hand at the time of order on the 15B4, so a wrong call means a return rather than a field fix. Stand outside the door: if the hinges are on your right, it is right hand.
8) Is the Emtek 15B4 trim suitable for a commercial entrance?
It is classified as residential hardware, built for swinging patio and French doors in a home. For a commercial opening in heavy traffic you want a graded commercial lockset rather than residential multi point patio trim.
9) Do Emtek multi point levers sag over time?
The 15B4 trim includes Emtek's spring assist, which returns the lever to neutral and is there specifically to stop the drooping handle problem common on heavy patio door trim.
10) What is the 15B4 plate made of, and will the unlacquered brass finish change?
Plates and substrate are solid brass. Unlacquered Brass (US3NL) is a living finish with no clear coat, so it will darken and patina with handling and weather exposure. If you want the look to stay put, Satin Brass (US4) or Polished Nickel Lifetime (US14) hold their appearance.
11) Will the Modern 2 x 10 plate suit a contemporary door, and can I put any Emtek lever on it?
The Modern series plate is a clean rectangular 2 by 10 inch escutcheon in the contemporary theme. Lever choice is open across the brass lever range, so you can run a squared L-Square Knurled or T-Bar Tribeca for a strictly modern look, or pair the same plate with a Rope, Ribbon and Reed, or Arts and Crafts lever if the rest of the house is traditional.
