1) Does the Emtek 1823 multi point trim include the multi point lock body, or do I need to order that separately?
Trim only. The 1823 set gives you the plates and handles for both sides of a swinging patio door; the multi point mortise lock box is a separate purchase. If you are replacing worn or dated hardware on a door that already has a working multi point lock, that is the case this trim is built for. If the lock body itself is failing, you need the lock as well.
2) What door configuration does the Emtek 1823 trim fit, and how do I know my door matches?
Configuration #8. Multi point trim is sold by configuration number because the plate has to line up with the holes already bored in the door: the 1823 uses a 5-1/4 inch center-to-center spacing between the handle and the cylinder, with the cylinder position above the handle, and it takes an American style cylinder prep. Measure center of the handle bore to center of the cylinder bore on your door. If that comes up 5-1/4 inches with the cylinder on top, this is your configuration.
3) Is the Emtek 1823 keyed, and how does the door lock from inside?
Non-keyed. The interior side operates with an American style thumbturn, so there is no key cylinder in this trim set at all. That makes it the right pick for a patio or garden door where the opening is reached through a fenced yard or a screened area and nobody needs to key in from outside. If the door is an exterior entry that has to be locked from the outside with a key, this is the wrong function and you want a keyed configuration instead.
4) Do I have to specify handing when ordering Emtek 1823 multi point trim?
Handing is required, right hand or left hand, and it is not field-reversible on this trim. Stand outside the door facing it: if the hinges are on your right it is right hand, on the left it is left hand. Getting it wrong on a multi point set means the thumbturn and lever sit backwards. You also pick the lever style at the same time, from ten Sandcast Bronze options: Aurora, Bryce, Cimarron, Cody, Durango, Lariat, Mariposa, Montrose, Teton and Yuma. Door thickness is an optional entry on the order so Emtek can set the spindle length for your slab.
5) Will Emtek 1823 trim work on a Neuma patio door?

The check that actually matters is the prep itself: 5-1/4 inch center-to-center with the cylinder position above the handle. 6) What size are the plates on the Emtek 1823 arched multi point trim?
Each plate measures 2 x 10 inches in the arched profile. That is a narrow plate, so it suits the stiles on most swinging patio and French doors, but lay a tape on your stile before ordering: the plate needs to sit flat with the bore centered, and a heavily glazed door with a slim stile can run tight. The 5-1/4 inch center-to-center bore spacing sits within that 10 inch plate length.
7) What finishes does the Emtek 1823 Sandcast Bronze trim come in, and will it match my other Emtek bronze hardware?
Three finishes: Flat Black Bronze (FB), Medium Bronze (MB) and Tumbled White Bronze (TWB). All three are from Emtek's Sandcast Bronze collection, so they are the same finish family used across Emtek's other Sandcast Bronze entry sets, levers and knobs. If you are matching a house or a run of units already fitted with Sandcast Bronze, order the same finish code and the patio door will read the same as the entry door. Solid bronze, not plated, so it wears rather than flakes.

Every Emtek multi point lock trim now ships with a spring assist that returns the lever to horizontal after each use, so the handle stops settling downward over time. Older multi point trim without it relies on the lock body spring alone, which is where the droop usually comes from. Worth knowing if you manage a building where the same patio door hardware has sagged on multiple units.
9) Is Emtek 1823 multi point trim suitable for a commercial building entrance?
It is classified as residential hardware and it is mechanical, with no electronic or access control option in the set. For multi-family or hospitality use on unit patio doors it fits the application. For a commercial entrance that needs a graded, cycle-rated device, look at commercial mortise or cylindrical hardware instead of a residential patio trim.
10) Can I pick any Emtek Sandcast Bronze lever with the 1823 trim, or only certain ones?
Any Sandcast Bronze lever pairs with these plates.
