The 4241 STRETTO arched trim is built for narrow 1-1/4 inch door preps with 3-3/8 inch center-to-center hole spacing, which is why the plate measures 2 x 10 inches rather than using a standard rosette. The cross bore is 2-1/8 inches and the backset is adjustable between 2-3/8 and 2-3/4 inches. If your door already has a full-width prep with wider hole spacing, this trim will not cover it correctly.
2) What does the privacy function on the Emtek 4241 do, and does it take a key?
It's a bed and bath privacy set, non-keyed. You lock it from the inside for a bedroom or bathroom door, and there is no cylinder or key on the outside. If you need a keyed entry for an exterior or office door, this is the wrong function.
