1) What door thickness does the Emtek Logan grip by grip handleset fit?
The Logan handleset covers doors from 1-3/8 inch up to 2 inch. Standard build is 1-3/4 inch, which is the usual exterior door, so if your door is thicker or thinner than that you enter the actual thickness in the door thickness field when you order and Emtek builds the spindle and screw pack to suit.
2) Will the Emtek 453828 fit my existing door bore, or do I have to redrill?
It uses the standard residential tubular prep: a 2-1/8 inch cross bore with either a 2-3/8 or 2-3/4 inch backset, so it drops into a door already bored for a common tubular lockset. Backset is a required selection at order time, so measure from the door edge to the center of the bore before you pick. The grips mount on 5-1/2 inch centers, which is what determines the through-bolt holes in the face of the door.
3) Can I key this Emtek handleset into the Weiser locks already on my other doors?
Yes. The Logan ships standard with a Schlage C keyway, but you can select the Weiser WR5 keyway instead at no upcharge, and that cylinder can be keyed into an existing Weiser system. On the order the Weiser version is denoted by a W in front of the product code.
4) Can I get several Emtek Logan handlesets keyed alike on one key?
Yes, keying is handled at order time at no charge. You choose keyed different or keyed alike, and if you are matching an existing system there is a field to enter a key code so the cylinders are cut to it. That's the route to take when you're doing a front and back door, or standardizing a group of units on one key.
5) What does grip by grip mean on an Emtek entry handleset?
Grip by grip means you get a full gripped handle on both the outside and the inside of the door, instead of the more common arrangement of an exterior grip with a knob or lever on the interior. It's an Entry function with a single cylinder, so the key operates from outside and the inside is thumb operated. Emtek treats this as a custom build made to order.
6) What finishes does the Emtek Logan sandcast bronze handleset come in?
Three: Flat Black Bronze (FB), Medium Bronze (MB), and Tumbled White Bronze (TWB). All are living finishes on solid sandcast bronze, part of Emtek's Sandcast Bronze collection, so they will patina with handling and weather. There is also an optional split finish field if you want the exterior and interior in different finishes.
7) Is the Emtek Logan handleset suitable for a commercial building entrance?
It's built and catalogued as a residential entry set, non electronic, in Emtek's Rustic Living line. For a house, a cabin, or a low traffic office front it's the right kind of product.
