1) Will the Emtek 5442 STRETTO narrow trim lockset fit a narrow stile door with a 1-1/4 inch bore?
That's exactly the prep it's built for. The 5442 uses a narrow 1-1/4 inch bore hole with 3-3/8 inch center-to-center hole spacing, so it goes on doors too narrow for a standard 2-1/8 inch bore. The trim plate measures 2 x 10 inches. If your door is already prepped for a standard bore, this is the wrong part - the 1-1/4 inch hole won't cover a 2-1/8 inch bore.
2) Do I need to specify handing on the Emtek 5442 STRETTO lockset?
Handing is required on every order. You pick right hand or left hand at the time of order. It matters most with levers, which have to point the correct way once installed - stand outside the door, and if the hinges are on your right it's right hand.
3) Does the Emtek 5442 come with a 2-3/8 or 2-3/4 inch backset?
Both are available - the backset is chosen when you order, 2-3/8 or 2-3/4 inches, and 2-3/8 is the standard. Measure from the door edge to the center of the bore hole to see which one your door is prepped for. Getting this wrong means the latch won't reach the strike.
4) Is the Emtek 5442 single cylinder, and what's on the inside?
Single cylinder - key on the outside, thumbturn-free operation on the inside via the knob or lever you select. It's an entry function tubular lock, so the inside handle always retracts the latch for free egress. There's no interior keyway, which is what you want on a door with glass nearby only if code allows; a double cylinder is the other approach.
5) Can I get several Emtek 5442 locksets keyed alike for one house?
Yes. Keying is a required selection at order time, either keyed different or keyed alike, and there's an optional key code field if you need to match an existing Emtek key code across the openings. Property owners running multiple doors usually take keyed alike so one key covers the set.
