Emtek Baden 8" Door Pull

Same 8 inch Baden pull, three ways to attach it. Standard mounting is thru-bolt with decorative caps, so the fasteners run through the door and the caps finish the opposite face. BTB is back-to-back, a Baden pull on each side of the door sharing the same bolts. CS is concealed surface, the option when you don't want fasteners reading through. All seven finishes are offered on all three: the part number is 86184 plus the finish code for standard, BTB86184 plus the code for back-to-back, and CS86184 plus the code for concealed surface.

Hole spacing is what settles it. The Baden is 8 inches center to center, so if your existing fasteners are 8 inches apart it drops onto the same two holes. If they aren't, you're either plugging and re-drilling the door or running the pull on a pull plate, which the Baden is built to do and which hides the old prep behind the plate.

For the thru-bolt versions, yes. The Baden mounts thru-bolt, standard mounting with decorative caps or back-to-back with a pull on each face, and thru-bolt hardware has to be matched to how thick the door actually is. Measure the leaf before you order. If you'd rather not drill through the door at all, the CS concealed surface version is the one to order instead.

The Baden is a residential brass pull, and that's what it's built for: entry doors, interior doors, and cabinetry in houses and units. For a commercial entrance taking constant traffic, go to a commercial pull instead. The Ives 8103HD is a heavy duty straight pull, 1 inch round with through bolt mounting, and the ABH AB7200 is a solid stainless steel flat end pull at 7/8 inch diameter, also through-bolt mounted.

The Baden 8 inch pull is an American Classic brass grip pull on 8 inch center-to-center with a 2 inch projection, designated for residential use. When ADA compliance is written on the drawing, the Ives 8145EZHD is the part to look at: it is a 45 degree offset door pull in the EZ series, described as ADA compliant, and it ships with heavy duty mounting hardware. The offset geometry and the compliance callout are what separate it from a decorative brass pull selected on appearance and center-to-center spacing.

The Baden 8 inch pull is a brass pull designated for residential use and mounts thru-bolt. For an opening carrying commercial traffic, the Ives 8103HD is a heavy duty straight door pull, 1 inch round, also with through bolt mounting, and the Ives 8102HD is a heavy duty straight pull on 3/4 inch round bar with 1-1/2 inch clearance. Both Ives pulls carry a heavy duty rating and share the through-bolt mounting method, so the fastening approach is familiar even though the grip profile is round bar rather than a decorative brass pull.

Order the BTB back-to-back mounting. That gives a Baden pull on each face of the door, bolted through so the two share the same fasteners, which is the usual setup on a door pulled from both directions such as a pantry, closet, or interior double. Back-to-back is available in all seven finishes, ordered as BTB86184 plus the finish code.

Unlacquered brass (US3NL) is a living finish with no protective coating, so it oxidizes and darkens with handling. That's the point of it for some jobs, and the wrong answer for a rental where every door has to look the same in five years. The Baden's other six finishes are Oil Rubbed Bronze (US10B), Polished Nickel (US14), Satin Nickel (US15), Flat Black (US19), Polished Chrome (US26), and Satin Brass (US4). Any of the seven can be had in standard, back-to-back, or concealed surface mounting.

Emtek classifies the Baden as a door or appliance pull, so a panel front is a normal use for it. The 8 inch center-to-center spacing is what has to line up with the panel prep. On a panel where you don't want bolt heads or caps showing on the back side, order the CS concealed surface mounting rather than the standard thru-bolt version.

The Baden pull is built to one grip size, 8 inch center-to-center. For a longer grip, the Deltana SSP1210 is a 12 inch contemporary pull for single-side mounting, and for a full-height entry grip the Deltana SSPORBB24 is a 24 inch back-to-back round offset pull with the SSPOBB24 covering the same 24 inch length in a modern offset profile. If the length has to be dialed in rather than picked from stock sizes, the ABH AB3330 series is an offset round end pull offered with custom length options.

No - those are two different parts. The Baden 8 inch pull is a grip you wrap a hand around, 8 inch center-to-center with a 2 inch projection off the door face. A push plate is a flat plate with no grip: the Trimco 1041 is a half-round push plate measuring 8 inch by 16 inch, and the Trimco 1001-1 is a heavy duty push plate at 3 inch by 12 inch. The 8 inch on the Trimco 1041 is a plate dimension, not a center-to-center hole spacing, and a push plate works the push side of an opening while the Baden pull works the pull side.

The Baden 8 inch pull is a solid brass grip pull on 8 inch center-to-center with a 2 inch projection, thru-bolt mounted, in an American Classic style. The nearest single-side decorative counterpart from another maker is the Deltana SSP1210, a 12 inch contemporary pull sold single side. The two differ in grip length, 8 inch center-to-center versus a 12 inch pull, and in styling, American Classic versus contemporary, so a swap changes both the hole spacing you drill and the look of the door face.

The Baden 8 inch pull is ordered with a BTB back-to-back mounting option, for example 86184US10B in standard thru-bolt mounting versus BTB86184US10B in the same Oil Rubbed Bronze finish for a back-to-back pair. Two other back-to-back sets take a different form: the Deltana OHP620 is an off-set handle pull supplied as a back-to-back set with a door thickness range of 1-1/8 inch to 1-3/8 inch, and the Deltana SSPOBB24 is a 24 inch back-to-back modern offset pair. The Baden route keeps an 8 inch center-to-center brass grip on both faces; the Deltana sets are offset handles, and the SSPOBB24 is a 24 inch grip.

The Baden pull is brass through the substrate and comes in seven plated and unlacquered finishes, including Unlacquered Brass US3NL and Polished Chrome US26. Where stainless is what the job calls for, the ABH AB7200 is a solid stainless steel flat end pull handle, 7/8 inch diameter, with through-bolt mounting, and the ABH AB3300 is a straight flat end commercial door pull at 1.00 inch diameter. The ABH pulls are round-bar flat end profiles rather than a shaped brass grip, so the change is one of both material and silhouette.

The Baden pull is ordered in a CS concealed surface mounting version, for example CS86184US15 in Satin Nickel, alongside the standard thru-bolt build with decorative caps such as 86184US15. Among commercial pulls, the ABH AB3310 is an offset flat end handle built as a commercial grade surface mount, while the ABH AB7200 and the Ives 8103HD both use through-bolt mounting that carries fasteners across the door. If the reverse face has to stay clean, the concealed surface Baden and the surface mount AB3310 are the two directions to compare.

Solid brass, both the substrate and the material Emtek lists for the Baden, finished in one of seven plated or coated options. Brass is the base metal under the Oil Rubbed Bronze, nickel, chrome, and black finishes as well, which is why the unlacquered brass version can be left bare and left to patina while the others carry a finish over the same body.

They serve different purposes. The Cal-Royal PUL-175 is a night latch cylinder pull in stainless steel construction at 3-1/2 inch height, the small pull that mounts around a rim cylinder on a night latch installation. The Emtek Baden is an 8 inch center-to-center brass grip pull with a 2 inch projection, thru-bolt mounted, sized for a hand to pull a door open. If the door has a rim cylinder and needs a cylinder pull, the PUL-175 is the part; if it needs a hand grip, the Baden is.
