The Hercules pull mounts on 8 inch centers, and the pull itself is 8 inches in height with a 2 inch projection off the face. If you are replacing an existing pull, the 8 inch spacing is what has to match your drilled holes, not the overall length. Three mounting options are offered: thru-bolt with decorative caps (the standard), back-to-back, and concealed surface. Yes. Hercules is built as a door or appliance pull, so the same 8 inch center pull can go on a panel-ready refrigerator, freezer, or dishwasher front and on a passage or entry door elsewhere in the same house. That is the usual reason people buy it: one grip profile and one finish carried across cabinetry, appliance panels, and doors instead of hunting for a matching appliance-specific handle.
4) Is the Emtek Hercules a locking or latching handle, or just a pull?
Pull only. Hercules is non-keyed with no latching or locking mechanism, so it does not secure the door or hold it shut. If the opening needs to latch or lock, you order a passage, privacy, or keyed entry set separately and use the Hercules as the grip. Emtek notes it may be used on its own or with pull plates.
5) What finishes does the Emtek Hercules pull come in, and will they match my other Emtek hardware?
Seven finishes: Flat Black (US19), Oil Rubbed Bronze (US10B), Polished Chrome (US26), Polished Nickel (US14), Satin Brass (US4), Satin Nickel (US15), and Unlacquered Brass (US3NL). These are the standard US finish codes, so a US15 Hercules is specified against the same code as the US15 levers and knobs on the rest of the openings. Unlacquered Brass is the one to think about twice: it has no clear coat, so it will patina with handling rather than staying bright.
6) What is the difference between the knurled and smooth Hercules pull?
Grip texture, and nothing else about the fit changes. Smooth is the plain cylindrical grip; knurled has a cross-hatched texture that reads industrial in a dark finish and decorative in a brass one.
