Falcon 650007 US32D – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What is the Falcon 650007 rod actually used for on an exit device?
The 650007 is a 24 inch surface vertical extension rod for Falcon surface vertical rod exit devices. On that style of device the push rail drives rods up to a top latch and down to a bottom latch, and this rod is the vertical link that carries that motion. It is sold as a replacement or supplemental extension rod, so you can restore a damaged assembly without buying a whole new device.
2) Will the Falcon 650007 fit a concealed vertical rod or a rim exit device?
No. The 650007 is built for surface-mounted vertical rod assemblies, where the rods run on the face of the door. Concealed vertical rod devices use rods sized and shaped for the inside of the door stile, and a rim device has no vertical rods at all, only a latch at the strike edge. For those you need the part specific to that device type.
3) Will this rod work on a Von Duprin or Precision vertical rod exit device?
Plan on Falcon only. The 650007 is made as a Falcon exit device part, with fit and function stated for compatible Falcon vertical rod devices. Rod diameter, end prep and stroke vary by manufacturer, so verify the device is Falcon before ordering this rod.
4) What finishes does the Falcon 24 in. surface vertical extension rod come in?
Six finishes: 605 Bright Brass, 606 Satin Brass, 612 Satin Bronze, 622 Matte Black, 629 Bright Stainless Steel and 630 Satin Stainless. If you are replacing one rod on an existing device, match the number stamped in the device's own finish code rather than eyeballing the color, since 629 and 630 look close from a distance but differ in sheen.
5) Does buying the 650007 mean I have to replace the whole exit device?
No, that is the point of it. As a replacement part it restores or extends an existing Falcon installation, so a bent or binding rod on an otherwise sound device is a rod swap rather than a full device change. Useful for property managers keeping a fleet of matching openings in service.
6) Is the Falcon 650007 rod a commercial-duty part or light residential?
Commercial. It is catalogued as a commercial-grade Falcon exit device component intended for high-traffic openings, the kind of service you see in schools, hospitals, offices, retail, warehouses and government buildings.
