1) Can I use Cryo-Tek -100 antifreeze in a galvanized or CPVC piping system?
No. Oatey Hercules Cryo-Tek -100 is not for use with galvanized, CPVC or aluminum. It is intended for systems fabricated with metal, plastics and rubber piping, fittings, seals and other parts. If your loop has galvanized piping or CPVC runs, pick a different fluid rather than risk the system.
2) What is Cryo-Tek -100 actually made of, and is it safe around potable or food contact?
It is a blend of 55 percent virgin propylene glycol, and Cryo-Tek is GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe) for incidental contact with food. The fluid is pink, which makes leaks and cross-contamination easy to spot in a mechanical room.
3) Will Cryo-Tek -100 work in a Rinnai boiler?
Yes, Cryo-Tek is approved for use in Rinnai I-Series boilers. That is the only boiler line named for it, so for other brands check the boiler manufacturer's glycol requirements.
4) Does this antifreeze do anything besides freeze protection?
