HES 1000-104 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Is the HES 1000-104 adapter rated for commercial door traffic?
It's a commercial-duty part, carried at Grade 1. That's the heaviest ANSI/BHMA duty tier, which is what you want on entrances, stairwells and tenant doors in multi-family and institutional buildings rather than a light residential opening.
2) I need to get power through the door instead of extending the strike lip - is there a different part for that?
Yes, that is a separate device. The HES 1000-104 is a mechanical installation accessory that extends the lip on a 1006 Series electric strike and carries no wiring of its own. To transfer power from the frame into a door leaf, RCI catalogs the 9500/9501 Series mortise pin transfer, rated 1.5A at 24VAC with a tamper-resistant design. The two are used at different points in the opening and are not interchangeable.
3) Is the HES 1000-104 the same grade as the Securitron glass door accessory hardware?
They are catalogued at different grades. The HES 1000-104 extended lip adapter is a Grade 1 commercial accessory, while Securitron's Glass Door Accessories carry a Grade 2 rating. For institutional openings written to a Grade 1 spec on the drawing, that distinction matters when the accessory is part of the submitted assembly.
4) Will a request-to-exit kit solve a strike lip alignment problem?
No. Lip alignment is a mechanical fit issue between the strike and the latch, which is what the HES 1000-104 extended lip adapter addresses on 1006 Series strikes. Request-to-exit kits such as the Command Access REX-KIT-ML for ML1-Series mortise locks or the SCHLBMKIT-ML latchbolt monitor switch kit for Schlage L9000 mortise locks are field-installable switch kits that report latch or lever status to the access control system. They change signaling, not the strike geometry.
