1) What is the HES 310-2-3 latch guard used with?
The 310-2-3 is an astragal strike latch guard made for the Folger Adam 300 Series electric strike. It covers the strike/latch area at the astragal, and the Torx screws needed to mount it are included in the box.
2) Will the HES 310-2-3 astragal strike work with an HES 1006, 5000 or 9000 series electric strike?
No. The 310-2-3 astragal strike latch guard is built for the Folger Adam 300 Series only. For 1006, 1500, 1600, 4500, 5000, 5200, 7000 and 7501 strikes the accessory to look at is the HESCUT-MTK metal template kit for 4-7/8 inch ANSI jamb preparations, and the 9000 series has its own 9000-MTK template kit. Ordering the 310-2-3 for one of those strikes gets you a part that does not belong to that body.
3) I need to cover the lock and strike on the door edge, not the astragal. Is the 310-2-3 the right part?
Not for that. The 310-2-3 is the astragal strike for a Folger Adam 300 Series opening. For an edge cover over the lock and electric strike, the HES-150 is the stainless steel part that installs at the edge of the door, available in 626 only. If the mount is inside a hollow metal, wood or aluminum jamb instead, the HES-152 is the one.
4) What finish does the HES 310-2-3 astragal strike come in?
One finish, standard 630 (satin stainless). There is no alternate finish option on the 310-2-3, so if the opening has to match a darker or brass trim package, the astragal strike will read as stainless against it.
5) Is the HES 310-2-3 rated for commercial door traffic?
Yes, it is a Grade 1 commercial part, which is the heaviest of the ANSI/BHMA duty grades and what a hospital, school or multi-family corridor opening is normally specified to. That matters on an astragal, because the guard sits where a pair of doors takes repeated abuse right at the meeting stile.
6) Do I need to buy screws or a mounting kit with the HES 310-2-3?
The Torx screws ship with the astragal strike, so no separate fastener pack is required. If the install calls for tamper resistance, the HES-157 Torx screws and the HES-157D tamper-resistant Torx R20 insert bit are the related accessories to add; the R20 bit is what lets a tech drive those heads.
7) Is the HES 310-2-3 an electrified part that needs to be wired?
No wiring. The astragal strike latch guard is a mechanical cover plate that mounts over the strike and latch area; the current goes to the Folger Adam 300 Series strike itself, not to the guard. Power supply accessories like the HES-2001-1 (AC to unfiltered DC, rated 35 V, 2 Amp) serve the strike, not this part.
