Houzer 2522-8BS3-5 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What size base cabinet do I need for the Houzer 2522-8BS3 drop-in kitchen sink?
Plan on a 30 inch base cabinet minimum. The sink's overall footprint is 25 inches by 22 inches by 8 inches deep, so a 30 inch cabinet leaves room for the countertop cutout and the rim overhang. Anything smaller won't take it.
2) How many faucet holes does the Houzer 2522-8BS3 have and what can I mount in them?
Three holes are punched in the deck. That covers a standard widespread or centerset kitchen faucet with a separate sprayer, soap dispenser, or air switch in the third hole. If your faucet is a single-hole pulldown, you'll have two open holes to fill with accessories or hole covers.
3) Will a standard kitchen basket strainer and disposal fit this Houzer sink?
The drain opening is 3-1/2 inches and sits at the center of the bowl, which is the standard US kitchen drain size, so a typical basket strainer or garbage disposal mounting flange fits. Houzer lists its own 190-9180 basket strainer for it.
4) Is the Houzer 2522-8BS3 a drop-in or an undermount sink?
It's a topmount, also called drop-in or self-rimming. The rim sits on top of the counter, so it works with laminate, butcher block, and tile counters where an undermount isn't an option. If your counter is stone and you want the rim hidden, you need an undermount model instead.
5) Does the Houzer 2522-8BS3 come with mounting clips, or do I buy those separately?
Mounting hardware and installation instructions ship with the sink. What is not included is the strainer or disposal flange, the faucet, and the tailpiece and trap, so budget those per unit on a multi-unit job.
6) Is 20-gauge stainless heavy enough for apartment turnovers and rental units?
The Glowtone 2522-8BS3 is 20-gauge T-304 stainless with a satin finish and a sound-absorbing pad on the underside. T-304 is the chromium-nickel grade used for corrosion resistance against water, food, and cleaning chemicals, and the pad cuts the drumming that thinner-gauge sinks are known for. For multi-family turnovers it's the typical spec tier: lighter than 16-gauge, quieter than bare 22-gauge economy bowls.
7) What does the nested 5-pack of the Houzer 2522-8BS3 actually include?
Five identical 25 inch satin stainless topmount sinks, nested together in one contractor pack. Every unit is the same 3-hole, 8 inch deep single bowl configuration, so it's meant for repeat openings: apartment buildings, office kitchenettes, spec homes. There's no mixed-size or mixed-hole option in the pack.
8) Is the Houzer Glowtone 2522-8BS3 approved for commercial and multi-family plumbing code work?
It carries IAPMO certification, which is the listing most jurisdictions and plumbing inspectors look for on a kitchen sink. Confirm your local amendments, but the certification is on the product.
9) What accessories fit the Houzer 2522-8BS3 bowl?
Houzer lists four made for this bowl: the BG-2500 bottom grid to protect the base, the CB-2500 cutting board, the RB-2500 rinsing basket, and the 190-9180 basket strainer. They're sized to the 21 by 15-3/4 inch opening, so generic universal grids often sit wrong.
10) Where do I find the cutout template for the Houzer 2522-8BS3?
Houzer publishes both a spec sheet for the 2522-8BS and topmount installation instructions, and both are attached to the product. Cut the counter from the manufacturer template rather than tracing the sink rim, since the 25 by 22 inch rim needs to overlap the opening on all four sides.
