Houzer BG-4902 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Which sink does the Houzer BG-4902 bottom grid fit?
The BG-4902 Wirecraft grid is cut to fit one sink only: the Houzer NVS-6500. It is not a universal grid, so if your bowl is a different Houzer model or another brand, this one will either rock or bind at the corners. Match the grid to the sink model stamped on the sink or on its spec sheet before ordering.
2) Will a bottom grid keep a stainless sink from getting scratched in a rental unit?
That is the main reason property managers buy them. The BG-4902 holds pots, pans and dishes off the sink floor so cookware and flatware are not dragging across the finish, and the plastic feet keep the grid itself from sliding around and marking the bowl. It also cuts down the clatter and drumming you get when dishes hit bare stainless.
3) Does the Houzer BG-4902 grid need any installation or hardware?
No install work at all. The grid drops into the sink bowl and rests on its own plastic feet, no fasteners, brackets or drilling. It lifts straight back out for cleaning or when you need the full bowl depth.
4) Can I order the BG-4902 grid for a bar or prep sink instead of a kitchen sink?
It is a kitchen sink accessory built around the NVS-6500 bowl footprint at 21-5/16 by 13-3/4 inches. A bar or prep bowl is almost always smaller than that, so the grid will not seat. For a smaller bowl you want the bottom grid Houzer lists against that specific sink model.
5) Is the BG-4902 grid stainless steel, and how does it hold up to food and cleaners?
It is a stainless steel wire grid, which is why it stands up to constant water contact, food acids and normal kitchen cleaning without rusting out the way a coated or plastic mat would. The feet are plastic, so those are the wear item over time, not the wire itself.
6) What finish does the BG-4902 bottom grid come in?
Satin stainless steel, and that is the only finish offered. It reads as a match alongside a brushed or satin stainless bowl and standard stainless kitchen faucets rather than standing out against them.
