Houzer BG-4740 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What are the dimensions of the Houzer BG-4740 sink grid?
It measures 10-5/8 x 13-3/4 x 1 inches. Measure the flat bottom area of your bowl, not the rim opening, before ordering. Since this grid was cut for a specific bowl, an inch of difference means it will either bind on the bowl radius or slide around.
2) Does the BG-4740 grid keep dishes from chipping the sink?
That is what it is for. The wire grid holds pots and glassware off the sink floor, so dishes land on the grid instead of the steel, and it takes the scratching that would otherwise show on the bowl bottom.
3) Does the Houzer BG-4740 have feet, or will it scratch the bottom of the sink?
It rides on plastic protective feet. Those keep the wire off the sink floor and stop the grid from shifting and rattling while you wash. No fasteners, no install work, it just sets into the bowl.
4) I manage apartments with Houzer NVS-3218D sinks. Can I order these grids to standardize across units?
Yes. The BG-4740 is the dedicated small bowl grid for the NVS-3218D, so the same part number covers every unit with that sink and there is no handing or size choice to get wrong. Note it only fits the small bowl, so a double bowl sink needs the matching large bowl grid too.
5) Is a stainless bottom grid like the BG-4740 safe to leave in a kitchen sink with garbage disposal use and cleaners?
The grid is stainless steel and built for kitchen sink duty, so water, food acids, and household cleaners are not a problem. It lifts out in one piece, which matters because food debris does collect under any bottom grid and the area under it needs rinsing out.
6) What finish does the BG-4740 grid come in?
Satin stainless steel, one finish only. It sits in the bottom of the bowl, so it reads as a match against the brushed or satin interior of a stainless Houzer sink rather than standing out.
