Houzer BG-7218 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Which Houzer sink does the BG-7218 bottom grid fit?
The BG-7218 Wirecraft bottom grid is cut to fit one sink only: the Houzer PTG-4318. It is not a universal grid, so if your basin is a different Houzer model or another brand, this one will either rock on the basin radius or sit proud of the drain. Check the model stamped or labeled under the sink before ordering.
2) Does a bottom grid actually protect a stainless sink, or is it just for looks?
It does real work. The grid holds pots and dishes off the basin surface so they do not scratch it, cushions glassware, and the plastic feet keep the grid from sliding and drumming against the steel while you wash. In a rental or a busy commercial kitchen that is the difference between a basin that still looks new in five years and one that is scoured.
3) I manage several units with Houzer PTG-4318 sinks, can I standardize on one grid across all of them?
Yes, provided every basin is the PTG-4318. The BG-7218 is a single-model grid, so one part number covers the whole fleet of those sinks and there is no handing, no size choice and only the one satin stainless finish to order. Units with a different Houzer basin need that basin's matching grid instead.
4) Will the BG-7218 grid sit over the drain and block water flow?
No. A Wirecraft grid is an open wire lattice standing on feet about an inch above the basin floor, so water and waste pass straight through to the drain. It is not a strainer and will not catch food scraps, you still need the sink's basket strainer for that.
5) What is the Houzer BG-7218 made of and what finish is it?
Stainless steel, supplied in a satin stainless finish that reads the same as a brushed stainless basin. Stainless resists water, food acids and household cleaning chemicals, which is why it holds up sitting wet in a basin all day.
6) Is there any installation or plumbing work needed to fit this sink grid?
None. The BG-7218 drops into the bowl and rests on its own plastic feet, no fasteners, no clips, nothing to disturb the drain or disposal connection. Lift it out for cleaning and put it back. It is a kitchen sink accessory, so nothing below the counter changes.
