1) Will the Houzer PGS-3122 sink fit a 33 inch base cabinet?
No. The PGS-3122 needs a 36 inch minimum base cabinet. The sink itself measures 33 x 22 x 9 inches overall, and the extra cabinet width is needed for the cutout and the rim to land on solid deck. On a 33 inch cabinet you'd be cutting into the cabinet sides. If 33 inches is what you have, you need a sink built for a 30 or 33 inch cabinet instead.
2) How many faucet holes does the Houzer PGS-3122 come with, and can I get it with just one?
Two drillings are made: a 4-hole deck for a faucet with a separate sprayer or soap dispenser and an air switch, and a 1-hole deck for a single-hole pullout faucet. Pick the drilling at the time of order, since there is no adding or removing holes after the fact on stainless. The 4-hole versions are PGS-3122-4-1 and PGS-3122-4-C; the 1-hole versions are PGS-3122-1-1 and PGS-3122-1-C.
3) What is the difference between the PGS-3122 -1 and -C part numbers?
That last character is the accessory package. A part number ending in -1, such as PGS-3122-4-1, ships the sink with the basket strainer only. Ending in -C, such as PGS-3122-4-C, adds the bottom basin grid along with the strainer. The sink shell, the 33 x 22 x 9 inch body and the bowl are identical either way. If you're specifying for a rental turn and the grid isn't in the budget, the -1 is the same sink.
4) Do I need to order a drain or strainer separately with the Houzer PGS-3122?
The basket strainer comes in the box on every configuration, so the only drain parts you still buy are the tailpiece, trap and any disposal flange. The strainer opening is the standard 3-1/2 inch kitchen size, which is what a garbage disposal mounting flange is built for. Mounting clips, a cutout template and instructions are included too, so the install kit is complete on arrival.
5) Is the Houzer PGS-3122 a drop-in or an undermount sink?
Drop-in, topmount. It sets into the countertop cutout from above and the rim rests on the deck, which is why it works on laminate and tile as well as on stone. An undermount needs a stone or solid surface top with a polished cutout edge and clips set into the underside. If your counter is laminate, the topmount PGS-3122 is the type you want; undermount is not an option on that surface.
6) How deep is the bowl on the Houzer PGS-3122 and will a disposal still fit under it?
The bowl runs 29-1/4 x 15-3/4 inches with a 9 inch depth, and the drain sits at the rear of the bowl rather than center. That rear drain placement is what buys you room, it pushes the tailpiece and disposal toward the back wall of the cabinet and leaves usable storage in front of the trap. With 9 inches of bowl on a standard 34-1/2 inch high counter, there's clearance below for a disposal in a 36 inch cabinet.
7) Is 18 gauge stainless heavy enough for a rental or multi-family kitchen?
The PGS-3122 is 18 gauge T-304 stainless, which is the heavier end of what's used in residential kitchens, 20 and 22 gauge being the thinner grades. T-304 is the chrome-nickel alloy that resists food acids and cleaners. For a property manager standardizing across units, an 18 gauge T-304 topmount holds up to tenant turnover better than a thin-gauge builder sink, and the StoneGuard undercoating and sound pad cut the drum effect you get from lighter steel.
8) What size countertop cutout do I need for the Houzer PGS-3122?
A cutout template ships in the box with the sink, so the fabricator or installer cuts to the template rather than working from the outside dimensions. Cut from the outside numbers and you'll oversize the hole, since the 33 x 22 inch figure is the rim, not the opening. 9) Can I replace a standard 33 inch double bowl drop-in with the Houzer PGS-3122?
In most cases yes, because 33 x 22 inches is the common footprint for a full-size topmount and the rim covers the existing cutout as long as the old sink was the same size. The change you'll notice is inside: one 29-1/4 x 15-3/4 inch bowl instead of two, so a sheet pan or a roasting rack lies flat. Check the faucet drilling matches what you're reusing, 1-hole or 4-hole, and confirm the old cutout before you pull the sink.
10) What finish is the Houzer PGS-3122 and will it match my other stainless sinks?
