1) What size cabinet do I need for the Houzer V-100U 33 inch undermount sink?
Plan on a 36 inch base cabinet minimum. The V-100U measures 33 x 18-7/8 x 9-1/2 inches overall, so anything smaller than a 36 inch base leaves no room for the rim and the clips. If your run is built on 33 inch bases, this sink will not drop in.
2) Will a standard kitchen disposal and drain assembly fit the Houzer V-100U?
The drain opening is 3-1/2 inches, which is the standard US kitchen sink size, so a typical garbage disposal mounting assembly or a 3-1/2 inch basket strainer fits. The drain sits at the rear of the bowl, which keeps the P-trap back against the cabinet wall and frees up storage underneath.
3) Can I mount the Houzer V-100U on a laminate countertop?
No. The V-100U is an undermount sink, so it needs a countertop with a finished, polished cutout edge, granite, quartz, or solid surface. Standard laminate has an unsealed particleboard core at the cutout and is not a suitable substrate for an undermount. If laminate is what you have, you need a topmount (drop-in) sink instead.
4) I have a 9-1/2 inch deep bowl going under a stone top. Will my existing trap still line up?
An undermount sits roughly the thickness of the countertop lower than a drop-in, and this bowl is 9-1/2 inches deep with the drain at the rear. That combination usually puts the tailpiece below an existing wall trap arm, so plan on re-cutting the trap arm or adding a waste arm to pick up the new height. Check the rough-in against the spec sheet before you commit the cutout.
5) How much usable bowl space does the Houzer V-100U single bowl actually give you?
One basin, 30-1/4 inches long by 17-7/16 wide and 9-1/2 deep inside. That is a single uninterrupted well, so full size sheet pans and roasting racks lay flat with no center divider in the way.
6) Does the Houzer V-100U come with mounting hardware and a template, or do I have to buy them?
Mounting clips, a cutout template and installation instructions ship with the sink. For an undermount in stone or solid surface you still need the fabricator's epoxy or silicone and the countertop cutout itself.
