1) What wire size does the Sta-Kon RL757 ring terminal take?
The RL757 is sized for 4/0 AWG conductor. It is a single-size barrel, so it won't grip smaller cable correctly, 2/0 or 1/0 runs need the terminal built for that gauge. Red is the color code used on this one.
2) Is the RL757 terminal UL listed?
It is covered under UL file E9809. That is the detail an institutional or MRO inspector will ask for on a panel build.
3) Is the barrel on this 4/0 ring terminal copper or aluminum?
Copper barrel with a nylon insulating sleeve. That makes it a copper-conductor terminal, so use it on copper cable, not on aluminum feeder unless the connection is separately rated for it.
4) Do I need a special crimper for the Sta-Kon RL757?
Yes. A 4/0 copper barrel is far outside the range of a handheld insulated-terminal plier, it takes a hydraulic or heavy mechanical crimper with the die matched to the 4/0 barrel. Plan the tool into the job, it is not supplied with the terminal.
5) Will a ring terminal or a fork terminal be better for my 4/0 connection?
A closed ring like the RL757 cannot vibrate off the stud without the nut coming completely off, which is why it is the normal choice for battery, feeder, and ground connections. A spade or fork tongue slides out from under a loosened screw, so it is used where the terminal needs to come off quickly on control wiring, not on 4/0 power cable.
